Be your own Sunshine
In 2013 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which has resulted in; numerous tests, brain surgery, radiotherapy and multi hormone replacement therapy. As a result, my body has taken quite a battering and I’m not as physically able as I once was. I had to rethink my career path and life in general!
‘Sunshine groups’ arose because I felt that it was an ideal way of sharing my group work programmes for education, whilst being mindful of my disabilities! I felt showcasing my intervention programmes in an online capacity, was the perfect solution They have been well received, so please check them out.
Once I’d set up the group work programmes, I began writing about my experiences. My initial reasons for writing the books were to process all the events and upsets of the past few years. My second reason was to help other people who are going through similar experiences, either with an illness themselves or someone they know.
Being an author and writing my blogs has given me such satisfaction and I am grateful for finding something else which I love doing as much as working in education.
I count myself very lucky to have two fantastic children, a great family and amazing friends who have all helped make my new life, even better than my old life in many ways.
