On Friday, I spent the day in bed. I literally didn’t move all day. This is a very rare occurrence for me, I have to be really poorly for me to stay in bed. I think that the last time was actually more than a year ago. I was in a lot of pain, feeling sick and very sorry for myself.
I lay in darkness all morning but I couldn’t get to sleep, even the morphine wasn’t helping my pain. I turned on the telly as a distraction and I ended up watching ‘tiny house nation’. It follows two presenters and they help people who are downsizing into a tiny home. It’s definitely something which appeals to me. Less money going out, less to clean and it can travel with you!
My children are now all grown up and next year I hope to sell my house and buy a little flat. If I’m honest I’m fed up of being a grown up; being responsible, having to pay the bills and being in charge of making sure that everything in the house is taken care of. I’ve been doing it for 30 years now and for the past 20 I’ve been doing it on my own. I just want to get off the treadmill and I think downsizing would be a good start.
Just recently I’ve been in a bit of a slump, I think it’s because I’m ready to move onto to the next chapter of my life. My children are independent and with a little luck I should be better off when I downsize, so I feel like I am treading water until that happens.
In the afternoon I watched ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjay5vgIwt4 which is the true story of one woman trying to ‘find herself’. Basically, she goes off on a years sabbatical visiting; Rome, India and Bali. Now not everyone can take a year out of their lives but it provokes a lot of thought about how far we should go to find happiness and balance in our lives.
After the film, I was inspired and I went on my beloved Pinterest https://www.pinterest.co.uk/AnnaGraybeyourownsunshine/be-your-own-sunshine/ and created a Board called ‘Be your own sunshine’, about self care and finding a direction in life. Personally I need to take stock every once in a while to keep me on track and focussed, so I shall certainly be trying some of the ideas myself. How do you keep yourself on track and living your best life?
I love this pin it shares some good advice on how to live a little!
